You'll also have to adjust the monitor up, down, left, right, pan, etc. so your desktop fills the screens nicely, and maybe set the desktop background to "tile" if you have a picture as a background so it doesn't appear between both monitors. You'll also get more settings to play with if you click the Matrox button

A Radeon VE 64 DDE (dual display edition) is driving two 19" monitors at 1280X1024 32bits/ pixel and 85Hz. Working just fine. It would be of advantage to have a card with two DACs instead of only one, there'd be much more flexibility in setting the resolutions/ color depths and refresh rates. But for the purpose,

It was essentially the size of 2 17 inch monitors stacked vertically, but I doubt any of the notation software would support this style of screen. Music Publisher 5 supports any screen resolution and combination of dual monitors and screen shape. Staves at about 0.3" will just fit into 800 pixels wide.

Unfortunately, since VMware is not dual-monitor aware it wants "full screen" to really be "full screen" (2560x1024 in your case - both monitors). Since your video driver does not do DGA acceleration across monitors VMware complains. (Even if your driver supported it, VMware would use BOTH monitors, not just one)
